Alright, just disregard that post I made a couple days ago. It was dumb. I wasn't thinking straight. I'll just introduce myself normally now.
Hi, I'm a nerd/geek.
I'm mostly a music nerd, most people probably wouldn't think so because I listen to metal and subgenres there of, but I'm totally nerdy about it. Any other metal nerds out there? Maybe? Perhaps? Eh probably not...
I also am an avid MUDder, I supposed that's something more of you can identify with... currently I'm floating around the IRE games (Achaea, Aetolia, Imperian, Lusternia). Achaea is my IRE game of choice right now, I think I'm going to be sticking with it. Man, there's just so much depth and complexity to this MUD, it's unbelievable. I love it. I'm also trying to become an imm on Dune MUD, mostly so I can learn to code and someday far, far in the future, code my own MUD. The imm that's sponsoring me is an awesome guy, but unfortunately he's one of the only cool people on the MUD, playerbase and imm staff included. Oh well, I think it'll be worth it to work under this guy. Problem is I have to do a bunch of quests, which I'm bad at, and design a complete area, which has eluded me so far, until I'm allowed imm-ship. Oh well, my sponsor keeps telling me I can do it, so... I guess I can do it. :)
I play mmorpgs too, but on a more sporadic basis, because I usually get tired of them after a few months. I'm not playing anything right now, but I just ordered some parts to build a new computer (list of parts available at request), and I ordered SWG and Guild Wars with it (yeah I know, Guild Wars isn't a true mmorpg, but I still like the concept). So if anybody plays either, I could use some friends in the game(s). :)
Hmm... I'm also a math/physics nerd. I love math. I've only taken up to Calc I in college, but I loved it. I've wanted to be a theoretical physicist since I was 14 - astrophysicist to be exact, but I've branched out since then (I'm still very interested in astronomy though). Unfortunately, I did horrible in high school for... various reasons. Hating it was one. I went to a community college to try to get back on the physics track, but I needed to take a whole crapload of classes to make up for not graduating high school, and I just couldn't do it. There's something about being forced to write that makes me freeze like a deer in headlights. So I'm going to a technical college now for mechanical engineering - it's lame, I know, but I'm doing something with my life at least. I hate that I'm not living up to my potential, but it's better than not having potential I suppose.
I used to play D&D and V:tM, but my group kinda dissolved. They (including me) were all complete power gamers though, so I still have yet to experience either game in any RP context... maybe I'll start playing V:tM again. The idea of playing V:tM with complete strangers when I don't have much RP experience scares me, though. I think I'll stick to RPing in MUDs (which I'm relatively new to as well).
That's it, that's about all the nerdiness in me that I can think of. :)
Oh, and I just started using my lj again after about 8 months of not using it, so a lot of the lj friends I had unfriended me. So if anybody has any desire to add me as a friend, go right ahead. :) The more lj friends I have, the more reason I'll have to use the thing...
EDIT: OH! And I love Good Eats. Alton Brown is a culinary geek god. I think I might even like the new Iron Chef more than the original because of him.

Actually, I enjoy math alot...though I hate doing actual homework. >.> But once I do get started, I tend to get in the zone and block everything out. ^_^

math is only fun when it's algebra and beyond. physics is much more enjoyable if you want to do math.

I won't be taking anymore physics classes in the near future, but I still have my calc-based physics book from comm college, and it's very, very thick and covers a lot of material. One of these days I'll start reading it, along with my calc book. :)

if you've got a good grasp of math, you can teach yourself physics, really... just get a good calc-based physics book and you'll be good to go. :)

Yes, I'm actually doing that right now. I'm picking up everything Feynman ever wrote, touched, smelled, spoke on, breathed, etc.

I'm enjoying it none the less, and I doubt I'll cease to anytime soon.

I like math too. (Used to hate it though, even though I was good at it.)
Anyways, welcome!

Right. Well, welcome. :)

What kind of metal do you like? What bands?

Alton is the man
I have his first set of DVDs. The extra cooking tips on them are well worth the price.
